Tips for Forum-Using - View Posts Since Last Visit
One thing I find very useful on most forums which I'm not sure many people know about, is the "view new posts since last visit" option.
It can be found on the home page (click "Home" at the far left of the navigation bar at the top) just above the first set of subforums. There are three links there - 'View posts since last visit', 'View your posts' and 'View unanswered posts'.
If you click the first one, 'View posts since last visit', you will be taken to a page with a list of all the new topics, and any updated/commented topics, posted since you were last on the forum. This is really handy for noticing posts you might not have seen, and saves you having to check each subforum individually for new posts.
If you use a browser with tabbed browsing (I find Firefox is best for this, Internet Explorer does it too but it's not as user-friendly a method) you can then just go down the list, middle-click on the ones you want to read/comment on (in IE middle-clicking doesn't work, you have to right click and select 'open in new tab' - this is what I meant by not user-friendly!) and they'll open in new tabs for you to read at your leisure.
I hope this has been informative and that people can make use of the 'view posts since last visit' feature; it's one of the most useful features a forum can have and one of the reasons I chose this host to host our forum.
